Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson is the daughter of British lawyers Jacqueline Luesby (born in Paris) and Chris Watson (born in Paris). When she was only five when she left for Oxfordshire and attended an Oxfordshire-based Dragon School. Emma aged six when she made the decision to make it as an actress. She was trained for many years at Stagecoach Theatre Arts, a part time theatre school in Oxford where she was taught acting and singing. As a ten year old, Emma had taken part in several Stagecoach productions as well as school productions. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2000) is the movie adaption of J.K. Rowling's bestselling novel was cast for the first occasion in the year 1999. Casting agents discovered Emma via her Oxford Theatre teacher. After a string of auditions for eight consecutive times, producer David Heyman told Emma and the other candidates Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint that they had been cast to play the three leads Hermione Granger Harry Potter and Ron Weasley. The release of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001) was Emma's cinematic screen debut. It broke all records in first-day openings and weekday openings and also was the highest-grossing production of the year 2001. The film was praised by critics and its performances by the three leading young actors. The Daily Telegraph, a widely read British newspaper, was awed by her for her performance. Emma's performance won her a nomination and received five awards for the film.
